Treating the lid alone in that setting removes skin without correcting the underlying cause and can pull the brow further down. How a brow lift is performed
- In the endoscopic technique, three to five short incisions are made behind the hairline. Dissection proceeds in the subperiosteal or subgaleal plane under endoscopic visualisation down to the supraorbital rims, where the supraorbital and supratrochlear neurovascular bundles are identified and preserved.
- The periosteum is released along the orbital rim, and the corrugator and procerus muscles may be partially divided to soften glabellar lines. The forehead flap is then elevated to the intended brow position and fixed, using resorbable fixation devices, bone tunnels, or suture to the deep temporal fascia laterally.
- In a lateral or temporal lift, the dissection is confined to the temple and the flap is suspended to the deep temporal fascia. Surgery is performed under general anesthesia or sedation with local anesthesia and generally takes one to two hours on its own.
