Overview
Amtrak's Empire Service runs from Albany-Rensselaer to Penn Station in roughly two and a half hours, with connections from Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. Penn Station is on the West Side, so the final leg is a crosstown trip of twenty to thirty minutes.
Air service into LaGuardia is the alternative from the western part of the state, and LaGuardia is the closest of the three airports to the Upper East Side, roughly thirty minutes by car via the Grand Central Parkway and the Triborough Bridge.
